My name is Cymone, I am a 24-year-old college student residing on the East Side of Chicago, IL. I enjoy and engage in various outlets of creativity such as writing, cooking and music. As for inspiration regarding my most recent venture, I wouldn’t describe myself as fashion-forward, however, my favorite accessory that I believe can bring any outfit to life are earrings, which is why I launched Emon Regalia. Emon is derived from my name, along with my daughter's, Emorie, with Regalia serving as homage to our last name, King. Faces (particularly a person's smile) are the most notable features, so I wanted to accentuate such with an accessory that highlights pre-existing beauty. I believe in affordable costs; you shouldn’t have to break the bank to showcase self-expression. I find that crafting earrings is therapeutic and will always strive to exhibit my best.
Why do you do what you do?
I love a unique earring when I see one and I’ve seen lots of beautiful statement pieces created by other artists, however, I wanted to create affordable artistic earrings of great quality for anyone to wear.
What are some projects you are currently working on?
I recently launched a limited-edition series for Breast Cancer Awareness Month called Survivors in Sisterhood to pay recognition to my grandmother and great-aunt for being Breast Cancer Survivors, while donating a portion of proceeds made from earring sales to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation. My plan is to create more awareness pieces in the future; I’ve also added new materials to my inventory to launch another collection coming soon.
What are your short-term and long-term goals?
My short-term goal is to increase my customer base and to eventually purchase materials that would allow for creating more complex pieces. In the long-term, I would eventually bring Emon to various conventions and hopefully even gain the recognition of persons of influence.
Who or what inspires you?
I know this may be considered cliché, but literally my family, especially my daughter, continue to inspire me on a daily basis. They serve as my motivation to keep striving toward excellence and prosperity through never-ending support and encouragement.
If you could change anything about your industry, what would it be?
Because my industry isn’t a service and because there are countless avenues and a limitless surplus of vision and potential as it comes to design, I wouldn’t change anything. Jewelry/Earring making is such a broad scope that there’s endless room for anyone to contribute.
What do you plan to do once you cross the millionaire mark?
My answer is a simple one: give back. Give back to those who have invested in me or to those who wish they could but did not have the means to do so. Give back to those who may not even know who I am but are in need. Humility and Humanity are strong driving forces and I live by paying it forward only because nothing is promised.
