What is your story?
My name is Vera. I am a professional photographer.
My journey to photography was not an easy process. I loved photography since childhood, I could look at old photos for hours trying to imagine the life of people in the photo. Photography was my dad’s hobby and I remember seeing him doing film photos and processing in the darkroom. Dad gave me my first camera when I was a teenager.
However, I didn’t have the opportunity to do photography professionally. I studied at several universities in Europe, got two masters’ and bachelor’s degrees in linguistics and law. Sixteen years ago, I came to the USA and became a nurse. But all these years photography was a significant part of my life.
Several years ago, my dream came true and I opened my own photography business VeraD Photography! I enjoy different types of photos - action, sport, fashion, family, portraiture, fine art- because each of them represents life. My goal is to show beauty and happiness in every day, in every moment. My photos have vivid colors, a lot of fun and happiness.
Why do you do what you do?
I do photography because I can’t not to do it. It gives me the freedom to express myself and to show people’s emotions, personalities, beauty. I believe that photo stops the moment in life and creates memories. Photography is my life.
What are some projects you are currently working on?
Currently, I am getting ready to participate at ClickCon-2020 conference in Chicago. It is a big event in the photography world. This conference unites many famous photographers, vendors, and all interested people together providing an opportunity to learn and share an experience.
What are your goals for the short-term and long-term?
As a creative person, it is difficult for me to set specific goals in a plan. However, I am planning to complete several big photo projects, such as social photo session to show a woman in the modern world and highlight problems, like loneliness. As a businesswoman, I plan to expand my business with a focus on the fashion industry. Fashion is an amazing world of beauty!
My long-term goal is to open a big photo studio offering clients full service in creating the best photo memories possible. Services would include hairstyling, make-up, fashion, photoshoot, and photo printing. It would be like a fairy tale in which every person could become anyone he wishes.
Who or what inspires you?
My inspiration is in the art. I like many artists, but my favorites are Rembrandt and Leonardo Da Vinci. I like fine art portraiture in photography and work in this area a lot.
If you could change anything about your industry, what would it be?
I would like to raise awareness that professional photography is available for every person, not only for models. Every person could be a superstar in the photo.
What do you plan to do once you cross the millionaire mark?
I would focus on educating new photographers and helping talented people to get into the professional world of photography.
